Arctic Monkeys

All the hype around Arctic Monkeys created primarily from NME you should believe. Arctic Monkeys are here, with the new album, fresh and ready to kick some ass. Today is the official release date in Europe for the new album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'. By default good old Amazon sends the copies of pre-ordered releases some days before official release date, so my copy has alredy arrived. The album comes out in US at 26. of January. The album is released for the independant UK label Domino Records, the home of The Kills, Franz Ferdinand, Pavement, etc. It contains 13 songs of a pure rock, groovy riffs, catchy bass lines and solid vocals. It opens with 'The View From The Afternoon' a song to warm up followed by 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor' - a mega hit and the first single from the album. Other highlights are slow 'Riot Van', catchy 'Mardy Bum', the second hit single 'When The Sun Goes Down (Scummy), 'From The Ritz To The Rubble' and closing song 'A Certain Romance'. Some songs that you may have heard as demos like 'Cigarette Smoke' or 'Choo Choo' are not on the album. Arctic Monkeys are at the moment one of my favorites, one of the candidates for the best of 2006 and I highly recommend them.

Ah what a pity, I think I missed the Gossip there. Still, cool post. Personally I don't see the hype around the AM, but we shall wait and see.

i dont know about these artic monkeys.... they seem a bit sloppy and arrogant. like oasis meets strokes. not that i need to "categorize them" or anything. Glad to see all the hype for them. they just dont seem to be as good as other bands who could certainly use the attention.

thanks for the posts, as always.

Arctic Monkeys are shite live, but produce good, poppy tunes. BTW, I took down all my mp3s because I couldn't take the bandwidth hit.
