The Picture

The Picture is a 5-members indie band from New York. The band formed in the spring of 2004 shortly after singer/writer Robert Abel met guitarist Chris Buckle from Liverpool, England. They were soon joined by drummer Jared Vergilis, bass player Jake Siegler and keyboard player Justin Repasky. The band has recorded with two-time Grammy nominated producer Carmen Rizzo (Grant Lee Phillips, Alanis Morissette, Paul Oakenfold, Billy Corgan, etc.) and top engineer Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jay-Z, Johnny Cash, Mars Volta, etc.). The band has released an excellent debut album "Connect", carrying beautiful pop-rock sound that I highly recommend.

For some reason, I couldn't get The Connect's songs to play from their MySpace page. But they have a bunch of free downloads available on their Web site.

As a big fan of the Jesus & Mary Chain and, yes, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, I find The Connect pretty enjoyable. They'd be a great band to just happen upon in a bar one night. Magic stuff can happen to this kind of soaring tuneage...

Thanks for all of the links. Speaking of bars, I've always wanted to hear a Flogging Molly record in its entirety.

I'm an editor by profession, so let me just add a correction to my previous comment: The band I was referring to as "The Connect" is really "The Picture." You may now go back to what you were doing...
