The Diableros

The Diableros are a 6-piece indie-rock band coming from Toronto, Canada. The band includes long-time friends Gary Leggett and Ian Jackson on bass and guitar respectively, supported by Tara Huk on Farfisa and Matt Rubba on keys. Phoebe Lee keeps them in check on drums.

The Diableros formed in the spring of 2004, initially for a Jesus and Mary Chain tribute night thrown by Dan Burke at the Silver Dollar. After playing together once afterwards for fun, core members Pete, Tara and Phoebe realized that they were onto something worthwhile and decided to start a real band. Over the rest of the year the group grew into a six member outfit, which would slowly edge its way to the forefront of the Toronto indie pop/rock scene. The Diableros take strange life experiences, wrap them in a wall of sound and break them loose again. Imagine The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Walkmen and The Modern Lovers partying in Bowie's ballroom.

In the past year, the Diableros have shared stages with The Zoobombs, Tangiers, Art Brut, Jon-Rae & The River, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Anagram, The Creeping Nobodies, Grassy Knoll & The Magic Bullit, The Airfields, In Support Of Living, The Floor, The Vulcan Dub Squad, Wintersleep, The Guest Bedroom, The Two Koreas, The Ladies and Gentlemen, The Mark Inside, Foxes, Lipstick Machine, Henri Faberge & the Adorables, The Patients and many more.

Their debut album, You Can't Break The Strings In Our Olympic Hearts, was independently released in November 2005. In 2006 the album is released for the Baudelaire label. The Diableros share the same enthusiasm and spirit as The Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene. Their music is impressive and exciting with authentic vocals and beautiful fuzzy sounds. Their debut-album is a true gem, one of the best recent releases and the most serious candidate for the best of 2006. It can be previewed at the band's official internet page. It's highly recommended!
