M.I.A. may have teased us in recent times by leaking the tracks 'XR2' and 'BirdFlu' herself but the real event comes on August 21st when the new album, KALA, is released on Interscope Records/XL Recordings. It's been worth the wait. Working with the likes of Afrikan Boy, Blaqstarr, Diplo, Morganics / The Wilcannia Mob, Switch and Timbaland, it's going to be quite an event, this one. In a preemptive strike, her new single, 'Boyz', is being released on enhanced CD and digital release including the “Boyz” video, a “making of”, photos and remix parts. There will also be a 12” vinyl release and a limited edition, M.I.A. branded USB wristband version. The Guardian Guide made it their Single of the Week at the weekend, calling it "a riotous blitz of jerky military riddims." They're not wrong. The video, shot in Jamaica, is equally riotous and features that nation's top dancers as well as some amazing graphics.

Hey, I just wanted to drop in and say that I really appreciate the work you put into this blog. I've been introduced to so many different bands over the past year or so that I probably never would have listened to because of your writeups and the directories you post. I check this blog every single week day. Keep up the good work and thanks again.
