Green Day + The Offspring Live

You've probably heard that Green Day won seven awards, out of the eight nominations at this year's MTV Video Music Awards. Green Day won awards for best rock video and best video for Boulevard of Broken Dreams, as well as best group, the viewers' choice award and several technical awards. Speaking after the show lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong told reporters, "It's nice to know that rock music still has a place on MTV". Does it?

Green Day - Live in Fukuoka, Japan 2001

The Offspring's metal-inflected punk became a popular sensation in 1994, selling over four million albums on an independent record label. In June 2005 they released a set with the greatest hits; in addition to their major hits, it included the new track "Can't Repeat".

Babyshambles Live

As reported by NME, the Babyshambles leadsinger Pete Doherty was involved in a backstage bust-up at the CARLING WEEKEND: LEEDS FESTIVAL with Razorlight's singer Johnny Borrell. I wonder when this talented musician will stop making incidents and focus himself on what he does the best - making the music. Thanks to stgad, who provided me with this link, I present you a live bootleg from Babyshambles from 2005. The PD contains also the pics from the concert.

Architecture In Helsinki Live

The Australian indie pop octet Architecture in Helsinki hails from Fitzroy, Melbourne, and counts multi-instrumentalists Cameron Bird, James Cecil, Gus Franklin, Isobel Knowles, Jamie Mildren, Sam Perry, Tara Shackell, and Kellie Sutherland among its ranks. The band's musical arsenal is even bigger than its roster, featuring instruments as diverse as analog synths and samplers, glockenspiel, tuba, clarinet, and recorder along with the more predictable drums, bass, and guitar. Architecture in Helsinki began playing in 2000, crafting a mix of indie, electronic, and pop that they recorded and occasionally performed live. The collective began recording its debut album, Fingers Crossed, in 2002 in a variety of places ranging from beach houses to proper studios; Bar None released the album in spring 2004. In 2005 the new album In Case We Die has been released.

The Butthole Surfers Live

Arguably the most infamously named band in the annals of popular music -- for years, radio found their moniker unspeakable, and the press deemed it unprintable -- Butthole Surfers long reigned among the most twisted and depraved acts ever to bubble up from the American underground. Masters of calculated outrage, the group fused the sicko antics of shock rock with a distinct and chaotic mishmash of avant-garde, hardcore, and Texas psychedelia; sleazy, confrontational, and spiteful, songs like "The Revenge of Anus Presley," "Bar-B-Q Pope," and "The Shah Sleeps in Lee Harvey Oswald's Grave" seemed destined to guarantee the Buttholes little more than a lifetime of cultdom. Yet, by the mid-'90s, they were left-field Top 40 hitmakers, success perhaps their ultimate subversion of mainstream ideals.
Here is a 15 minutes sample from BS live gig in Holland, 1985. It's good quality sound (256kbps) and would be certainly appreciated from all true BS fans.

Babyshambles get it together?

Babyshambles are pledging to stop missing gigs starting with this weekend's Leeds and Reading festivals. Guitarist Patrick Walden says the band have now got their act together, reports XFM.They are also now focused on completing their debut album. "We met up, we said some things and we're all moving in the right direction again," explained Walden."From now on we're not going to say we'll play unless it's definite, definite, definite. The only reason we won't be there is if we're struck down by lightning, because there's only so far you can take flakiness. "It's OK if it's the Rhythm Factory on a Tuesday night, but with big gigs it's not fair. I understand why people always ask us if we're really going to turn up, especially after the last few weeks. "But anyone who knows Pete knows he's very much into his fans, he loves his fans and is very close to them. "The pair also hinted there could be a number of spontaneous gigs in the days leading up to Reading and Leeds. On the album, Walden said: "I think we'll finish it in the next few weeks unless - and I don't think this will happen - it's not as good as it could be. We don't want it to come out until it's the best it can be. "People have been waiting for this record and I know they won't wait forever, but another month to get it 100% right is worth it. It's a real chance and if we get it right it will affect a lot of people."
